    quote
    by id-iom

Question by D3V!N: What quote in your life has really inspired you?
Perhaps a quote to help you keep your chin up when times go bad, or to have the courage to do something. Anything.
What was the quote that has helped form you?

    Best answer:

    Answer by Bassmah
My famous quote would be “fair is foul, and foul is fair” from Shakespear’s Macbeth. It made me realize and understand different types of people.

I have to say that I disagree with the majority of the previous reviewers, in that this book is really not that useful in my eyes. While it does have a few famous and inspirational quotes, it is definitley not worth paying $15 for. Like other readers have mentioned, the book is 50 pages long, with half of them being illustrations. The other 25 pages contain from 4-5 quotes each, for a total of maybe 100 quotes in the entire book. This is the type of book that you would expect to pay $3.95 for at a bookstore, and definitly not $14.95. My suggestion would be to stay away from this book. You are better off getting quotes off the Internet. Just my opinion…

I love this book. It may not have 2000 quotes in it, but I have to agree that these are some of mankind’s greatest quotes. I received it as a gift and I find it easy to use and lovely to look at. It has over 100 of mankind’s most profound insights in one place which makes them easy to refer to. The book was designed so that there are 7 or 8 quotes on a page with a beautiful color photograph next to each page of quotes that is appropriate to the theme of those quotes. The aesthetic affect is a reminder of the depth of life and livingness – something that often gets lost in our day to day lives. The wisdom relayed reminds me that we as mankind have very similar hopes and desires and dreams for ourselves and our family and friends. It is also very therapeutic to be reminded how GREAT each one of us really is. I recommend reading this little book and bringing some joy to your life. You deserve it.

Was the previous review even talking about this book? The book is a 50 pg small gift book full of many inspirational quotes. Quotes are by people such as Aristotle, Socrates, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Buddha… people whom just about everybody has heard of! The quotes are inspirational, and the illustrations are beautiful too. It could be a great gift for just about anyone.

worldwide we have to think outside the box, as they say, the actual economic model caused the crisis, it CAN’T be solved with concepts involved with it, we need a new model

    • imre1000 21:07 on 31.08.2010 Permalink

If you look at any long term economic recovery in history – it invloves significant tax & spending cuts.

Where as every economic crisis in history involves growing Government, and higher taxes.

The solution is not a spending freeze, it’s a massive CUT IN TAXES & THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT.

    • manabozho 21:35 on 31.08.2010 Permalink

The problem with the spending freeze isn’t that it’s a change of position for Obama. The problem with it is that, thrown against the spending that will still remain, it’s like using a $700 rebate on a $70,000 Escalade as a justification for buying the Escalade. It doesn’t make buying an Escalade a good idea! (The “Escalade” in this example is the massive spending that stays in the budget, btw.)

Although I don’t blame Obama, he should still stick to waht he says and what he promised. It hasn’t gotten too bad yet, but if it’s really because he’s worried about what the reps think, then screw that. He should do what he thinks is right for the whole country, not just the politicians sitting around him. I agree with his plans a lot, they sound great, but only if he starts that up.

With Hillary as Pres. we would expect an open war in Congress instantly. Not to mention the nastiest election campaign to date before she got elected. Health care wouldn’t get this far (maybe that would be a good thing).

Who am I kidding? – the same kind of crippling politics would exist unless one party or one leader has complete dominance (of course that scenario would lead to disasters too).

People were rightly concerned that Sarah Palin could become President, if anything happened to McCain, but Obama shows you don’t need her when the President appoints the wrong people to key positions in the Administration.
Is Obama the first President to appoint his own political assassins?

In the present situation, Marc Antony would have a hard time convincing anyone that these people “are all honourable men.”

There’s no way in hell Obama will get re-elected come 2012. It’s ironic how everything John McCain said he would do, Obama denied, and then turned around and did himself.

I didn’t want McCain, but now I wonder if we picked the wrong guy after all. . . .

      Where’s Hillary? ;)
