obama was against “the hatchet” aka spending freeze, and what does he do in his FIRST state of the union? “SPENDING FREEZE!”

worldwide we have to think outside the box, as they say, the actual economic model caused the crisis, it CAN’T be solved with concepts involved with it, we need a new model

If you look at any long term economic recovery in history – it invloves significant tax & spending cuts.
Where as every economic crisis in history involves growing Government, and higher taxes.
The solution is not a spending freeze, it’s a massive CUT IN TAXES & THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT.

The problem with the spending freeze isn’t that it’s a change of position for Obama. The problem with it is that, thrown against the spending that will still remain, it’s like using a $700 rebate on a $70,000 Escalade as a justification for buying the Escalade. It doesn’t make buying an Escalade a good idea! (The “Escalade” in this example is the massive spending that stays in the budget, btw.)

I am a progressive but I do have respect for the man. He has very good ideas on economics.

Although I don’t blame Obama, he should still stick to waht he says and what he promised. It hasn’t gotten too bad yet, but if it’s really because he’s worried about what the reps think, then screw that. He should do what he thinks is right for the whole country, not just the politicians sitting around him. I agree with his plans a lot, they sound great, but only if he starts that up.

Sadly, you’re probably right.

Obama is a corporate whore just like the Republicunts.

Can’t believe I voted for this coward….no confidence in any politician.

With Hillary as Pres. we would expect an open war in Congress instantly. Not to mention the nastiest election campaign to date before she got elected. Health care wouldn’t get this far (maybe that would be a good thing).
Who am I kidding? – the same kind of crippling politics would exist unless one party or one leader has complete dominance (of course that scenario would lead to disasters too).

hmmm those are some good gripes.

People were rightly concerned that Sarah Palin could become President, if anything happened to McCain, but Obama shows you don’t need her when the President appoints the wrong people to key positions in the Administration.
Is Obama the first President to appoint his own political assassins?
In the present situation, Marc Antony would have a hard time convincing anyone that these people “are all honourable men.”

your interpretation of how obama will shift assistance program spending to agribusiness subsidies during the great recession is whacked.
either you are way way way too cynical or you are just really trying to tear down the pres.
maybe you should sit back and wait once in a while?

Let’s make clear that we are now a year further down the road and circumstances have changed. Personally I don’t think it is a bad thing to have a president who can change his mind about things (depending on circumstances or availability of info).

don’t ask a question like that when you know that he looks like a muslim (which is something i shouldn’t say but is true).

There’s no way in hell Obama will get re-elected come 2012. It’s ironic how everything John McCain said he would do, Obama denied, and then turned around and did himself.
I didn’t want McCain, but now I wonder if we picked the wrong guy after all. . . .
Where’s Hillary?

Clinton was more Republican that Bush and your post shows great examples of that

“I was very negative about Mr. Bush, but I think that Mr. obama makes him look like a genius.”
– Marc Faber
Faber is a famous economist who predicted the economic crisis, which the “expert” government could not do.
