Can I write a make of famous quotes or do I need permission from the source of the quote?
Question by joecostantini74: Can I write a make of famous quotes or do I need permission from the source of the quote?
I like to collect quotes. I think everyone likes to hear a good quote for inspiration, knowledge, reassurance. However, I know this would not be the first book of its kind, and that I should probably be concerned if it would actually be published. However I am most curious if I need permission from the source of the quote. Or if I am free to record them and for whom the quote is given credit to.

you have to have permission from the writer/author of the poem because if you don they can call you out for plagiary… not good.

If you cite you are permitted to quote anything.

As long as you site the person who said the quote, and it’s in quotations, you’re good.
